Napoleonic Gaming

CSGA has been gaming Napoleonics in miniature for an extended period. The Napoleon's Battles (NB) rules set by Craig Taylor and Bob Coggins was first introduced to the club by Dick F. many years ago, and like most clubs, we have established our own house rules modifications (as example, we require "pin by contact" rather than the 1" rule). We also have evolved a tournament system (not so jokingly called the "Never Ending War" (NEW) by Luis, the Crazy Cuban) that provides semi-weekly play with a handicap system and troop increases as rewards for competition. Possibly some of us are a bit obsessed with this game system?

Our club members have substantial lead investments in 15mm scale, and we can field the forces for large historical battles: French of course, as well as Russians, Prussians, Turks, Austrians, Brits, and many of the minors, including Poland and the minor German states. The image at top left gives a good view of one of our 20 or so "campaign" maps which are used in the NEW games. Aaron P. and Lew have painstakingly painted terrain features onto felt, allowing instant conflict at the drop of a bicorne.

We have gamed in the NEW system every other weekend in the past, but have not run a tournament for a while now.

Those of you who are familiar with NB might want to examine the "Tools" link, where you will plumb the depths of our insanity in this system. You may find a useful spreadsheet, algorithm, or scenario that you can download.
